If you are replacing your 1/4" Makita RT0701C collet, or upgrading for precision, the Ultra-Precise 1/4" Replacement Collet by IDC Woodcraft ensures your CNC router bits run exceptionally true and significantly reduces the opportunity for bit slipping.

Using ANSI industry standards, IDC Woodcraft has ensured this collet is manufactured to machining-level tolerances for an extremely precise match-up between the Makita trim router and 1/4 shank CNC bits, to cater to the needs of CNC routing while eliminating ‘tool runout’.

The Ultra-Precise 1/4" Replacement Collet is considered a “fitted precision collet”. The unparalleled grip and alignment of this collet means bit slippage becomes virtually nonexistent, offering users precise cutting. This ensures a snug, secure, and vibration-free fit, which is vital for the dynamic demands of CNC woodworking.

The Ultra-Precise Replacement 1/4" Collet is made from 4140 steel to maintain strength and significantly reduce wear that naturally happens with collets over time.

Collets wear over time. If so if you are noticing your bit slipping, or cuts that are not as clean or accurate as you are used to, it can be due to a collet that has reached the end of its useful life as an accurate bit holder.

Make sure your 1/4 shank bits run true. Use ultra-precise tools whenever possible.

Works fine

Holds the bits better than the plastic collet that came with the Makita, especially when the initial hand tighten. The bit doesn't slip when given it the final wrench tighten.

It sucks

It didn’t hold the bit. I cleaned out the collet space and nut and tightened like I usually do the machine didn’t make it 2” before the bit was digging deep into my carve. I have been doing this for a few years now so it wasn’t operator error.
